Electric Fire Trucks

Deploying fully electric fire engines across different grid architectures with Pii's input-agnostic Level 3 Mobile DC Chargers.

The Deployment Challenge

01

Grid Mismatches

Older fire stations often run on 208V architecture, while newer facilities utilize 480V Wye, complicating fleet-wide EV charger deployments.

02

Consistent Equipment

Municipalities need standardized charging solutions across all locations, avoiding the need to mix-and-match different chargers for different buildings.

03

Transformer Delays

Cities require charging solutions that work with existing infrastructure, eliminating the need to wait years for new transformers to be installed.

Boulder Fire-Rescue's Green Initiative

The City of Boulder, Colorado is currently the only major American city to have two fully electric fire engines. By utilizing Pii’s mobile DC chargers, they successfully deployed their new Rosenbauer RTX-1 at Fire Station 3 and supported their older stations with 208V architectures simultaneously.

With Pii's input-agnostic solutions, Boulder furthered its commitment to green initiatives without needing to build brand-new stations or wait years for transformers to be installed. No 480V? No problem!
