POWERING THE REBELLE RALLY

POWER INNOVATIONS PROVIDES GREEN ENERGY FOR REBELLE RALLYOctober 8-17, 2020

The Rebelle Rally is partnered with Power Innovations, the industry leader in the development and deployment of consumer and corporate green power solutions, including challenging and rugged conditions like the Rally. The Utah-based company will provide all the power for the base camp, as well as on-course BEV 175 KW fast charging.

“We have a history of accepting challenges that have never been done before – things that a lot of people classify as unrealistic. These challenges push us as individuals and as a company to do hard things. Challenges that will make a positive difference for us all. This challenge should help us all rethink the possibilities of BEV and H2 as we commit to a green future without limits,” noted Robert Mount, President and CEO of Power Innovations. Read More Here

Introducing the World’s First Mobile Energy Command (MEC)

The Rebelle Rally is the longest competitive off-road navigation rally in the United States. The remote rally takes place over 10 days and 2,000 kilometers of stunning roads, dirt roads, trails, dunes and designated open off-highway vehicle areas across Nevada and California.

To ensure the competition had the power they needed for these harsh and remote conditions, the Rally partnered with Power Innovations (PI), the industry leader in the development and deployment of consumer and corporate green power solutions. With the new electrified designation for the Rally, this year the power requirement also needed to include both on-course Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) charging in addition to power for base camp.

Meet the MEC

The Power Innovations’ MEC is a mobile energy storage, delivery, and management system. With Power Innovations’ advanced technologies and commitment to a green future, the company is powering the Rally with energy where and when it is needed across the rugged and remote terrain of the Rally. Even under normal circumstances, this type of fast charge capability for BEVs is rarely available from locations attached to vast utility sources. And that’s exactly why Power Innovations has built the world’s first Mobile Energy Command.

When needed, electrified drivers will roll onto the MEC for on course fast-charge. This MEC is completely new to the market – having never been done at this scale, in this rugged environment, over this short period of time.

For the Rally, Power Innovations will be using the MEC as a mobile EV Charging Station, capable of delivering:

175 kW DC Fast Charging

320 kW Inverter

210 kWh Battery Capacity

75 kVA Generation

Powering Base Camp

To deliver the power needed for the remote base camp, PI will be using our Mobile-Special Operations Command (M-SOC) AMES Power Station. Power Innovations will capture renewables by day and power base camp by night by deploying integrated green power solutions – including our Nexus, Gateway Liberty, and Gateway Minis. The Nexus inverter allows the team to generate power with solar panels, store the power, and then choose when to use it. The Gateway Liberty packs 1500W of power – charged from the sun in less than 3 hours – the fastest on the market. And the Gateway Minis pack 300W of power in less than 10 lbs – ideal for individual tent use.

For the base camp, Power Innovations will be using the M-SOC – AMES as a mobile command center, capable of delivering:

Min 17kW Solar

Min 70kW Inverter Capacity

Min 80kWh Battery Storage

10kW Emergency Generation

Next up?

Together with its partners, Power Innovations aims to deliver BEV fast charging capability throughout the world so that businesses, consumers, and even adventurers like this Rally can recharge cars, trucks, and other electric needs in 15 minutes, whenever and wherever they are.
